As of the 22nd April I’ll no longer be presenting the Xfm Evening Show, and very pleased to be handing over the reigns to the hugely talented and passionate Danielle Perry.
At the start of the year I was asked to step in and mind the show on an interim basis (something I was always aware of but unable to mention), and in that relatively short space of time I’ve had the chance to give airtime to loads of amazing new bands and artists, host awesome live sessions and interview a wide range of musicial heroes – both new and established – from James Blake, Fryars and Ty Segall to Bobby Gillespie, Foals and Biffy Clyro.
I’ll be presenting the show for another couple of weeks until Danielle’s arrival with more exciting things in the pipeline for the near future.
I’d like to extend my congratulations and good luck to Danielle, who I know will do an amazing job as the new presenter.
On Wednesday’s cover for John Kennedy I was joined in the studio by Ahmed Gollab who, as Sinkane, released ‘Mars’, one of my favourite recent albums. As well as sharing a few of his own cherished records, we talked about his somewhat nomadic background and how it has informed his approach to making music. There’s also a chance to hear Savages‘ blistering recent X-Posure session and a startling rework of At the Drive-In‘s ‘One-Armed Scissor’, by The Field.
